Culver City, March 23, 2007 - Culver-Palms United Methodist Church (CPUMC) and California Interfaith Power and Light (CIPL) are collaborating with the Culver City Sustainable Community Plan to promote earth stewardship during the month of April and beyond.

Michael Sandler, CIPL Southern California Outreach Coordinator and Catherine Vargas, the Environmental Coordinator for Culver City, are partnering with Pastor Rich Bolin to bring events to the community that will emphasize the urgency of environmental issues, advocate for a sustainable community, and provide tools for persons, organizations and businesses to better care for the earth.

According to Bolin, "From our faith perspective, there is a biblical imperative to care for the earth. We are making common cause with community partners to address the issues of climate change and sustainable lifestyles."

According to Dr. Sleeth, "I am convinced that when the church becomes fully engaged in the problems of creation care, we will overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. As ... all those who consider themselves people of faith grow in their understanding that God holds us accountable for the care of creation, we will begin to see positive changes on an unprecedented scale."
